FASHION NEWS: CHANEL SNEAKERS FALL WONTER 2014/2015 COLLECTION

Last January for the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2014 Haute Couture Collection, Karl Lagerfeld shook things up with a daring new attitude when he paired the ultimate symbol of femininity, the corset, with the ultimate symbol of sportswear, the sneaker. For the Fall-Winter 2014/15 Ready-to-Wear collection the designer re-confirmed this modern and high-energy silhouette by accessorizing every look with low or high sneakers.
With characteristic humour, Karl Lagerfeld has moved the sneaker away from its primary function – for use in sport – to insert it into the wardrobe of everyday life. He has given it luxurious materials while preserving its most famous technical characteristic: the thick rubber sole. Exacting quality and expert construction, the new CHANEL sneaker perfectly adheres to the House's values. With unfaltering attention to detail Karl Lagerfeld has also added the iconic double C of CHANEL onto the sole.

At the heart of the Fall-Winter 2014/15 Ready-to-Wear collection, the sneaker can be worn as much with a suit as with a pair of leggings, an overcoat or an evening dress. In this spirit, low or high like a boot, laced up until the knee, it comes in twenty different combinations of materials and colours: tweed in a multitude of effects (chevrons, woven, bouclé …), suede, in laminated, crackled or iridescent leather, and in distinct associations dominated by black and pink, orange, black and gold, red and green, pink and silver… This explosion of vibrant hues is reminiscent of the CHANEL Shopping Centre, the luxury supermarket backdrop to the runway show.
With the new CHANEL sneaker Karl Lagerfeld reaffirms Gabrielle Chanel’s own visionary approach and imprint on freedom, as he imbues womenswear with sportswear. “Freedom is the spirit of the collection,” he concludes.
The CHANEL Fall-Winter 2014/15 sneaker will be available in boutiques in September 2014.
